Our staff is able to know the community members uniquely. When we are able to know each person so thoroughly, we can better relate to them, better care for them, better cater our happenings to them, and overall make them feel more like they are at home. This is also the reason we have a 1:5 daytime staffing ratio. Compared to a typical, state-regulated staffing ratio of 1:17 in larger facilities, we didn’t feel like enough time could be allotted to each resident to make our good intentions possible. So we chose to increase our staffing ratio well beyond state regulation to make our vision of care a reality. Our staff isn’t just there to give assistance with showers and medications before disappearing into the next room. They are friends that give time and attention as well as care and its only possible because our ratio is so excellent. With typical staffing ratios, the aids are just too busy with tasks of caregiving to be able to add to the social atmosphere of the home. Our Environment: Our staffing ratio, coupled with our smaller size and open layout, creates an environment that is interactive, social, and unified. The many common areas are easily accessible and freely utilized by our community members. Each of the 16 private rooms has a private bathroom equipped with a walk-in-shower, non-slip flooring, heat fan, heated toilet seat, and call button. The central kitchen is roomy 24/7 and although we provide healthy and delicious home-cooked meals, our residents are free to enter and help cook or bake if they wish. We dine together at two huge, sturdy, gorgeous oak tables that were handcrafted by one of the owners. These tables are also used for playing games and doing crafts or other activities, which happen daily. Our Services: A variety of daily planned activities catered to our resident likes and preferences. Home cooked meals by skilled chefs from dietician approved menus. Family style dining at 2 large, solid oak, custom made dining tables. Medication Management, Reminders and Preparation by Certified Staff. Shower and hygiene/grooming assistance. Assistance with dressing, mobility, toileting, transferring and other -related functions of daily living as needed/desired per individual resident and doctor. Daily group exercise. Reminders for meals, happenings, appointments, and other tasks. Linen and personal laundry service. Daily housekeeping and weekly deep clean. Personal Call System for any assistance at the touch of a button. Individually controlled supplemental heating and air conditioning in bedrooms. Free telephone use with unlimited state-side long distance. WiFi Internet throughout the home and in rooms. Sometimes as people age, intermittent nursing care or physical therapy is needed. In those cases we assist in arranging Home Health to come in, covered by Medicare, to fulfill those needs. Also, as people age and need hospice care, in most cases, they are able to continue living comfortably and peacefully in their home here at Bee Hive until the time comes for them to return back to their heavenly home. Dementia Services Residents with dementia needs do very well living at BeeHive because our smaller space is soothing and calm, easily navigated, and our extra staff are readily available to assist them with redirecting and reminding them of the things they may be confused about. As dementia is a vast term and each person is special in their related needs, please call to discuss your loved one’s needs and our applicable assistance. What Makes Us Special The most important aspect of our facility is the way it feels like a home. As such, our community members feel comfortable, at ease, and use the spaces we offer just as they would their own home. This is especially helpful in keeping seniors active, social, and involved in the daily life of the home.
