Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care

Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care is located on a five-acre campus in the North Riverside Forest Preserve, a few miles west of downtown Chicago. The community operates two service lines: Sheltered Care (assisted living) and Memory Care (specialized dementia care).

The Sheltered Care program offers two tiers of support. Residents can arrange assistance with specific daily tasks—bathing, medication management, meals—as needed, or select a higher level of support including wellness checks and escorts. A nurse is on duty 24/7. Residents live in private apartments with three meals daily, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation included. An activities program operates alongside these services.

The Memory Care program, established in 2016, serves residents with Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, and memory loss. Each household has 10 residents in private suites with full bathrooms. Care staff receive specialized training in dementia communication and person-centered care. A nurse is available around the clock. The design includes a communal Great Room, a large patio, and two screened porches. Meals and activities are scheduled to match individual preferences and routines.

Caledonia was formerly known as The Scottish Home. The organization is affiliated with the Chicago Scots, a Scottish cultural organization and one of Illinois's oldest nonprofits.
