About Irvine Cottages 2
Irvine Cottages operates 13 small assisted-living homes across Orange County, each housing no more than six residents. The facilities focus on memory care for dementia, Alzheimer's disease, mild cognitive impairment, Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and related conditions. The operator also provides diabetes and nephrology support, along with hospice care through an on-site hospice team.
The small-home model is intended to reduce overstimulation and confusion that can occur in larger facilities. Each cottage maintains a consistent staff, with house managers averaging five or more years of tenure. m.
New residents receive extra support from an assigned caregiver during their first three days. Care is organized into three levels based on cognitive decline, with individual cottages tailored to each group's needs—some offer additional night care, others emphasize music therapy or other specialized programming. The facility uses full-building camera monitoring in bedrooms.
Current staffing includes two nurses who visit daily, medication technicians, and social service directors. Two to three caregivers are assigned per six residents. Founder Jacqueline Dupont is a gerontologist with over 20 years of experience in aging and Alzheimer's care and received the 2015 Senior Care Hero Humanitarian Award from SeniorServ.
Cottages are located in Irvine (Northwood, Turtle Rock, University Park), Newport Beach (Back Bay), and Mission Viejo (near Alicia and La Paz exits off the 5 Freeway).
