About Sunnymere
Sunnymere is a non-profit licensed sheltered care home for seniors 65 and older, serving the Fox Valley area since 1939. The organization began as the Old Ladies' Home of Aurora, founded in 1895 with a gift from Harriet Colby, and expanded when Clara Bowron bequeathed her estate to establish the Bowron Home. The two organizations merged and built the current facility on land donated by Jessie Farnsworth, naming it Sunnymere in her honor.
Sunnymere provides residential care for independent seniors and added assisted living services in 1998 to meet demand for affordable options. The facility maintains accommodations at prices kept moderate through non-profit operation and adjusts services to match residents' changing needs.
