Thorne Crest is owned and operated by American Baptist Homes of the Midwest (ABHM), a not for profit provider of senior living and health care since 1930. ABHM has been providing health care, affordable housing, and supportive services to people of many ages, cultures, and conditions for over 80 years. As a not-for-profit, faith-based organization, our mission is to create healthy Christian communities that empowers older adults. We provide choices for housing, offerings, and technology that enrich body, mind and spirit. With the recent completion of an $11 million redevelopment project, the community now offers a new memory care center, wellness center with pool and locker rooms, bistro and dining room, common areas, new assisted living apartments, parking garage and much more. Located in Albert Lea in southern Minnesota, our wonderful retirement community boasts clean, secure residential streets, a vibrant downtown and a myriad of shopping and dining options. Long known as The Gateway from the South, Albert Lea is home to about twenty thousand community members and serves as a regional anchor for this part of the state.
