Villa St. Francis was founded in 1990 by the Felician Sisters, a religious order established in Warsaw, Poland in 1855. The Sisters arrived in Wisconsin in 1874 and have worked in Milwaukee since 1907, including founding St.
Francis Hospital in the 1950s and supporting the Child Development Center of St. Joseph. In the 1980s, recognizing that some seniors needed assistance with daily activities but not acute hospital care, the Sisters established Villa St.
Francis as an assisted living community. The facility currently serves more than 100 residents. Residents work with nursing staff to develop care plans based on their individual needs, ranging from minimal support for independent seniors to help with activities of daily living. Care plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted as needs change.
