Home Instead - Charlotte, NC homeinstead.Com Home instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of happenings that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these offerings allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time. Home Instead - Caregiver Skills Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, secure driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention. Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caretaker stress. Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caretaker's franchise office. Activity training including reminiscing happenings, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting happenings for those with impairments, different types of engaging happenings for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands. Training Programs: Our mandatory Alzheimer's disease training program provides CAREGivers with the knowledge, tools, and caregiving techniques necessary to effectively serve clients in the mid to late stages of dementia. Sample topics include: how Alzheimer's affects language; techniques to help communicate more effectively with someone who has Alzheimer's; how Alzheimer's affects each person in a different way; principles and techniques that help provide solutions to challenges that occur. In Home Aide Training After completing orientation and training, each CAREGiver completes an In Home Aide certification program taught by an RN. This program covers all aspects of personal care, including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, ambulation and transfer assistance. A combination of classroom and hands on training is done in our training room that is fully equipped with a hospital bed, wheelchair, walkers and adaptive devices. In Home Aide training focuses on happenings of daily living and other critical topics designed to provide a secure, comfortable space for clients. Get Costs
